Description
In-person class at Fox Chapel Area High School.
NEW! Whether you are new to sewing or a seasoned stitcher, join local artist Susan Swarthout for this three-week series on visible mending and slow stitching. This relaxing, meditative needle art process turns rips and tears on your clothing or home decor into art.
Visible mending, as a trend and art form, has strong roots in the Japanese traditions of boro patching and sashiko stitching.
Your exploration of this beautiful fiber art will include:
- Learning and practicing the simple running stitches used in this art form.
- Discovering ways to combine these stitches into elaborate designs.
- Receiving guided instruction as you create a unique patch.
Transform the tears, holes, or worn fabric on your favorite piece of clothing or accessory into unique, wearable art. Or create a small fiber masterpiece for display. The possibilities are as limitless as your imagination!
Class-Specific Notes
