Description
In-person class at Fox Chapel Area High School
Beginner friendly! No experience necessary!
NEW! Have you ever wondered what the card game of Bridge is all about, but felt intimidated by its reputation for complexity? Ideal for students who have never played Bridge or are rusty and need a refresher, this four-week introductory class is designed specifically to help you discover whether learning Bridge fits your lifestyle, interests, and learning style before committing to our Bridge Basics I course, which begins on September 30.
Beyond the fun and camaraderie, Bridge is widely considered one of the best activities for lifelong brain health. Studies show that the mental stimulation of memory, strategy, and problem-solving involved in playing Bridge can help keep your cognitive skills sharp as you age.
Instructor Todd Hertzberg has been playing Bridge for more than 20 years and is passionate about sharing the game with new players. Students will learn the mechanics of the game in a friendly, low-pressure environment by focusing mostly on card play with little/NO bidding. Students will also be introduced to:
- Opening Leads
- Dummy-Play
- Declarer-Play
- Defensive Signaling
Class fee includes all materials. There is no need to bring anything except an open mind to learning a new and enriching game. No prior experience with bridge or complex card games is necessary.
