In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, forget the “Danny Boy” clichés and get ready to rock out, Irish style! Ireland’s musical exports go far beyond the pub ballad. From Thin Lizzy to U2, the Emerald Isle has produced some of the grittiest, loudest, and most influential sounds in rock history.
Join instructor Erik Selinger for a high-energy deep dive into the evolution of Irish rock. He will trace the country’s musical journey from its traditional roots to the stadium-sized anthems and punk-fueled protests that defined generations.
Topics include:
- How early folk influences from legends like The Chieftains and The Dubliners paved the way for a modern revolution
- The Celtic punk explosion, including the raw energy of The Pogues, Flogging Molly, and Dropkick Murphys
- The blistering guitar work of Gary Moore and the legendary Thin Lizzy. (We promise we won’t play “The Boys Are Back in Town.”)
Erik is a lifelong fan of rock music and loves sharing that passion with others. Erin Go Bragh, and rock on!
