Description
In-person class at Fox Chapel Area High School.

Beginner friendly, no experience necessary!
NEW! There’s something deeply satisfying about making useful, beautiful items with your hands. In this welcoming beginner class, you’ll learn to sew while creating two cozy, fabric bowl holders designed to protect your hands from hot soups, chilly desserts, and everything in between. These charming bowl cozies also make thoughtful, handmade gifts or creative gift wrap.
No sewing experience or equipment is needed. Using instructor-supplied machines and fabric, you’ll choose from a variety of beautiful colors and designs to create pieces that reflect your personal style.
Join Megan Bourne, owner of Riverview Fabrics and lifelong sewer, as she shares her love of sewing in a relaxed, supportive environment. After a demonstration of basic techniques, you’ll receive guided, hands-on instruction as you explore:
- Fabric cutting with a rotary cutter
- Working with quilting cotton and batting
- Sewing machine basics
- Introductory quilting techniques
Class size is limited to ensure personalized attention and a calm, creative atmosphere.
Slow down, learn a new skill, and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating something both practical and beautiful. You’ll leave with confidence, new sewing skills, and two handmade bowl cozies to use or share.
Class-Specific Notes
