Would you like to explore a beautiful form of calligraphy that doesn’t involve hand lettering? Join Lam Gray, owner of Lam Gray Calligraphy and Art, for a relaxing and creative series focused on the art of flourishing. No prior experience is needed—this class welcomes both beginners and students with some calligraphy experience.

A $10 materials fee, payable to the instructor on the first night, covers many beginner supplies so you can explore this art form without a large upfront investment. A limited list of class supplies is provided below.

For centuries, flourishes and decorative designs were added to handwritten documents to enhance their beauty and meaning. In this class, you’ll escape electronics and the demands of daily life as you step back in time and work with your hands. Using a pointed pen, you’ll learn to create flowing curves and elegant forms that can stand alone as decoration or be combined into ornamental borders. 

This style of decorative calligraphy allows you to create abstract designs as well as flowers, natural elements, and other artistic forms. Lam will demonstrate techniques and provide hands-on guidance as you practice creating a variety of ornamental strokes, including:

• Borders and cartouches
• Decorative medallions
• Modern designs of animals and more

Class-Specific Notes

A material fee of $10 is payable to the instructor the first night of class.
