NEW! Are you a biking and camping enthusiast who is looking for a more challenging adventure? If you are ready to trade the pavement for less-crowded, off-road adventures tailored to your fitness level/needs, you may want to try bikepacking. Bikepacking combines the freedom of cycling with the self-sufficiency of backpacking. It has exploded in popularity in recent years as cycling groups, couples, and families search for new ways to explore together. But getting started can feel overwhelming if you don't know how to pack for a trip on two wheels.
This one-night class will strip away the confusion and provide a clear, practical foundation for your first overnight adventure. Join instructor Linn Kotermanski, a seasoned bikepacker who leads bikepacking trips around the country, as she shares lessons for a successful off-road adventure. Using her own bike and supplies as a guide, Linn will demonstrate not just what to bring on a bikepacking trip, but how to pack it so that it all fits easily.
Key topics include:
- Selecting the right bike
- Picking the right bikepacking bags and mounting them correctly
- Choosing the right clothing, rain gear, toiletries, and a compact “sleep system” that fits your bike.
- Planning your route
- Understanding proper trail stewardship and etiquette
- Preparing for the unexpected (getting lost, injury, bad weather)
Whether you are a seasoned cyclist or a camping enthusiast looking to move faster, you will leave this class with the tools to start planning your first bikepacking trip.
