Description
In-person class at Fox Chapel Area High School
Beginner friendly! No experience necessary!
NEW! Bring a piece of fall indoors with this hands-on workshop. In this one-night class, you'll learn how to arrange and attach unrooted succulent cuttings to a pumpkin to create a long-lasting piece of living art. As long as the pumpkin’s exterior remains uncut, your unique arrangement should stay fresh and vibrant through the holidays. Once the holiday season is over, you can gently remove the succulents and plant them in soil. With proper care, the succulents will live for years.
Instructor Margaret Haas is a self-taught succulent gardener who has successfully grown these unusual, colorful plants for years. She will guide you step-by-step through the process, including:
- Basic succulent care
- Design ideas for creating an eye-catching arrangement
- Techniques for securing and attaching the cuttings to the pumpkin
- Simple care instructions to keep your arrangement thriving for weeks
Students should bring to class one medium-sized pumpkin (about 10 inches in diameter) with a flat top and a hot glue gun if you have one at home (no need to go out and buy one). All other materials, including 10–12 succulent cuttings per person, moss, and adhesives are included in the class fee. Join us for an evening of seasonal creativity and take home an arrangement that will be the talk of your holiday table!
