NEW! How should states conduct themselves in war? Should all actions be permissible to defeat the enemy, or should states be restrained by rules? This one-night class will examine these questions through the lens of Just War Theory.
Join Duquesne University Professor of Political Science Mark Haas as he discusses Just War Theory and some advantages and disadvantages of this approach. Mark has studied international security and great power politics for more than 30 years.
Topics include:
- What is a just war and what are its alternatives?
- Are there rules of warfare and should they be followed?
- How should the United States conduct itself during war?
- How does Just War Theory apply to the current wars in Gaza and Iran?
Come with questions! There will be time at the end for Q&A.
