NEW! Knowing what to do in an emergency can save a life!
Medical, traumatic, and bleeding emergencies happen every day at work, home, school, and everywhere in between. Bystanders are usually the first to arrive when one of these crises occur. With proper knowledge, you can begin life-saving treatment quickly while waiting for emergency medical services.
Join Linda Reiger, EMS Specialist, for this important demonstration and hands-on class covering basic first aid training and learning to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to save a life. You will learn to provide appropriate care quickly to infants, children, and adults.
First aid topics will include:
- Helping someone with a traumatic injury including fractures and sprains, head injuries, burns
- Assisting during medical illnesses including allergic reactions, stroke, seizures, cardiac/respiratory issues, diabetes, and sepsis.
The Stop The Bleed portion of class involves watching and practicing three quick, life-saving techniques that will empower you to make a life or death difference when a bleeding emergency happens:
- Proper way to use your hands to apply pressure
- Packing a wound to control bleeding
- Correct application and use of a tourniquet
This class provides valuable information that all adults should know. Certification cards are not provided as the focus is on basic practices that can be performed to keep someone safe and minimize injury while awaiting the arrival of emergency personnel.
