New project! No previous drawing or painting experience needed to fully participate in this Asian Zen-influenced art style. Express your spirit and individuality while creating a beautiful piece of art perfect for gifting or displaying in your own home.
Sumi means black ink and e means painting. Deborah Kollar, an accomplished Chinese Brush Stroke and Calligraphy artist, will demonstrate and provide guided practice as you:
- Learn to handle the brush
- Master the four basic brush strokes
- Become familiar with the symbolism and philosophy behind each brush stroke
During this 2-week course, you will complete a beautiful teapot painting using Sumi ink and rice paper. Class fee includes all materials needed to create the project.
Experience the joy of learning this beautiful art form using a brush (fude), ink (sumi), and thin absorbent "rice-paper" (washi). Class size limited.
"Find yourself a cup; the teapot is behind you. Now tell me about hundreds of things".....Saki (H.H. Munro)
